This Part-time Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 3 years (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension. Housed within the University of Calgary's Sociology Department, Canadian Ethnic Studies (CES) is an academic journal publishing 3 issues per year, focusing on issues related to ethnicity, race, immigration, and religion. The journal was founded in 1969 and is among the leaders in its field. With a largely Canadian audience, the journal receives approximately 125 submissions per year and publishes approximately 25 articles as well as book reviews, interviews, and other material. CES is the official journal of Canadian Ethnic Studies Association. This Recurring part-time position reports to the journal's Co-Editors, Dr. Abdie Kazemipur (Department of Sociology) and Dr. Shibao Guo (Werklund School of Education). This position requires continuous interaction with faculty, staff, graduate student assistants, authors, and reviewers. The work averages 10 hours per week on a flexible schedule; much of the work can be done remotely. This position is part of the AUPE Bargaining Unit.

The primary purpose of the position is to assist the co-editors in the adjudication and preparation of articles submitted to CES, including communicating with authors. In addition, the person holding this position will develop initiatives to supplement our conventional publication of articles and reviews.
