Call for Journal Managing Editor

The Canadian Review of Sociology (CRS), established in 1964, is the official publication of the Canadian Sociological Association (CSA) and the flagship journal of the discipline in Canada.

The CRS provides an accessible and affordable publication venue for sociologists. The CSA is committed to ensuring that the work published in the journal is available to a global audience of scholars and to the public.

The CSA is now welcoming applications for the role of Managing Editor (ME) of the Canadian Review of Sociology for a three-year term beginning June 2025.

Working in collaboration with the journal’s Executive Editor and publisher, the ME is responsible for overseeing the journal’s finances, production and distribution processes, and policy directions. As a member of the CSA’s Executive Committee, the ME serves as the primary liaison between the CRS Editorial Board and the association.

Knowledge of both official languages is an asset but not required for the position.

This is a volunteer position however funding is provided to facilitate attendance at the Canadian Sociological Association Annual Conference.

Questions regarding the specific duties of this role may be sent to office@csa-scs.ca.

The CSA is committed to the values and principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization (Operating Standards and Principles on Equity). We recognize and honour the intersectionality of equity-based identities and therefore invite and encourage the application of members from marginalized groups, including Indigenous peoples, racialized persons, persons with disabilities, persons who identify as women, and/or LGBTQ2A+.

Applications for the position of Managing Editor - including a cover letter outlining the candidate’s experience on journal editorial boards and a curriculum vitae should be sent to office@csa-scs.ca by April 15, 2025.
