Section 23 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the right to education in the language of the official linguistic minority of a province or territory (English in Quebec and French elsewhere in Canada). This multidisciplinary conference, part of the annual Acfas congress, will examine Quebec’s English-language education sector amid ongoing legal disputes involving Section 23. These disputes concern employee recruitment, school governance, language use in government communications, and tuition rates.
