Methodological Dialogue: Visual Sociology

Speakers were asked to discuss the following questions;
“Visual sociology” can mean a lot of different things to different people. Can you tell us about what this area of research or this methodology means to you? And perhaps what that looks like in your research?
In your experience, what drew you to visual sociology or what do you think are the strengths to this field? What are some challenges that you have encountered in using visual sociological methodologies?
Currently there are a lot of ethical discussions around visual sociological methods, whether it is gathering data from social media or producing visual work. What are some key aspects regarding ethical considerations that you engage with when using visual sociological methodologies?
